DeSoto County, Fl ~
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s completed the last day of training for the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) School Resource Deputies (SRD) before the start of school next week. They completed their weapons training with a final weapons inspection. Then it was out to the track for driver training, providing them the essential skills to safely disable a vehicle when a threat arises. The afternoon was spent in the classroom with de-escalation techniques and then out to the yard for Safety Net training. Safety Net is a program used to locate individuals who may be at risk for wandering. DCSO SRDs are a vital first-line defense for our schools, students, and staff in the event of a threat. Their number one duty is to protect and secure a safe learning environment of the youth for DeSoto County.
