Riviera Beach resident, Vernon Davis, was “visiting” DeSoto County this morning when he attempted to outrun deputies in a foot pursuit after a traffic stop on Rainbow Ave. Davis, a convicted felon, was in possession of a firearm, controlled substance, marijuana, and drug equipment. His foot pursuit earned him a new set of “bracelets” along with an extended stay at the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Jail.
Davis’ attempt to run from deputies subsequently lead to his arrest for:
*Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon;
*Possession of a firearm with an altered serial number;
*Resisting Officers;
*Driving while license suspended (habitual offender);
*Possession of a controlled substance;
*Synthetic narcotics possession with intent to sell, manufacture, or deliver;
*Possession of marijuana; and
*Possession of drug equipment.
Sheriff Potter reminds anyone “visiting” DeSoto County that he doesn’t want your unlawful deadly drugs meant to victimize the DeSoto County Community in our county. You can take your “vacations” elsewhere.
