Arcadia Residents Invited to Help Improve Downtown Walkability
ARCADIA — Residents and visitors are being encouraged to help shape a more walkable and pedestrian-friendly downtown during an upcoming AARP Walk Audit in Arcadia.
The hands-on community event invites participants to take part in a guided walk through downtown to evaluate sidewalks, crosswalks, lighting, traffic flow and overall pedestrian comfort. Feedback collected during the walk will help identify potential improvements aimed at making downtown Arcadia safer, more accessible and more enjoyable for people of all ages and abilities.
Organizers say the walk audit is open to everyone, including residents, seniors, families, business owners and community groups.
The AARP Walk Audit will take place Saturday, January 10, 2026, from 9 a.m. to noon. The walk will begin at 17 N. Polk Ave., where participants can pick up audit forms before heading out into the downtown area.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to register in advance at arcadiamainstreet.com/aarp-community-challenge.
Community leaders say the event provides a valuable opportunity for locals to share firsthand observations and play an active role in shaping the future of downtown Arcadia.
