Arrested for Attempting To Smuggle Drugs Into DeSoto Correctional Institute

On Sunday, July 23, 2023, DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Thurek responded to an incident at the DeSoto Correctional Institute, involving a pat-down search of Shameka Yvonne Foster, during which alarming discoveries were made.
Foster was reportedly attempting to smuggle illegal narcotics inside her person, but thankfully the drugs were successfully detected and seized. As a result, Foster was placed under arrest and transferred to the DeSoto County Jail.
Shameka Foster is currently facing the following charges:
– Smuggle Contraband into Correctional Institute
– Trafficking in Cocaine (28 grams or more but less than 150 kg)
– Possession of Controlled Substance without Prescription
– Possession of Harmful New Legend Drug
– Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
