Southwest Florida’s three Bayfront Health hospitals and their affiliated medical groups announced they are coming together under one name: ShorePoint Health.
The following entities will fall under the ShorePoint Health brand umbrella:
- Bayfront Health Port Charlotte is now ShorePoint Health Port Charlotte
- Bayfront Health Punta Gorda is now ShorePoint Health Punta Gorda
- Venice Regional Bayfront Health is now ShorePoint Health Venice
- Bayfront Health Medical Group is now ShorePoint Medical Group
- Gulf Coast Medical Group is now ShorePoint Medical Group
“As ShorePoint Health, we want to broaden and deepen the ways we care for and serve the residents of Sarasota, Charlotte, Lee and DeSoto counties,” says ShorePoint Health Venice CEO Kelly Enriquez. “Everything we do is with patients in mind and will connect back to providing the best care.”
The name change, which is effective immediately, was carefully considered over the past 18 months as healthcare was challenged during the pandemic.
“Our desire was to find a name that connected to our surroundings and the communities we serve,” says Doug Luckett, interim CEO for the ShorePoint Health hospitals in Port Charlotte and Punta Gorda.
Hundreds of names were considered before landing on ShorePoint Health. Luckett emphasizes that “Shore” has the luxury of two meanings – the obvious reference to the area’s geography, as well as to support, or shore-up.
“Supporting our patients and communities is key to ShorePoint Health. For us, this means building – and nurturing – relationships with our patients and communities while delivering quality care,” he says.
ShorePoint Health, with locations throughout four counties, includes 774 licensed beds and more than 950 physicians on the combined active medical staff. The system of three hospitals saw nearly 63,000 emergency room visits in 2020 and nearly 24,000 inpatient admissions.
