BICYCLIST RUNS INTO CAR IN PORT CHARLOTTE

A PORT CHARLOTTE BOY WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT IN PORT CHARLOTTE.  THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 19 YEAR OLD NATALIA CUNAHAN OF PORT CHARLOTTE WAS WESTBOUND ON PEACHLAND BOULEVARD WEST OF LOVELAND BOULEVARD JUST BEFORE 1PM TUESDAY.  12 YEAR OLD KEVIN MONTGOMERY WAS RIDING HIS BIKE NORTH ACROSS THE LANES OF PEACHLAND BOULEVARD WHEN HE TRAVELED INTO THE DIRECT PATH OF CUNAHAN’S CAR.  THE IMPACT CAUSED MONTGOMERY TO BE THROWN TO THE GROUND.  HE WAS FLOWN TO ALL CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL IN TAMPA IN SERIOUS CONDITION.  CUNAHAN WAS NOT INJURED.  TROOPERS SAY MONTGOMERY WAS NOT WEARING A HELMET, AND WHILE THEY DID NOT CHARGE EITHER IN THE ACCIDENT, THEY DID SAY MONTGOMERY FAILED TO YIELD THE RIGHT OF WAY.
