CHARLOTTE COUNTY DIRECTOR OF TOURISM BECKY BOVELL ANNOUNCED HER RETIREMENT EFFECTIVE NOVEMBER 1ST. SHE ACTUALLY TENDERED HER LETTER OF RESIGNATION LAST THURSDAY TO NOW FORMER CHARLOTTE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR ROGER BALTZ. BOVELL’S CAREER INCLUDES A QUARTER CENTURY OF LEADERSHIP IN THE TOURISM INDUSTRY, INCLUDING NINE YEARS WITH CHARLOTTE COUNTY, AND SHE HAS ALSO HAD STINTS WITH THE US SENATE AND POSITIONS WITHIN THE WHITE HOUSE. BOVELL SAID IN A PRESS RELEASE THAT “IT IS WITH GREAT PRIDE AND A TREMENDOUS SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT THAT I TAKE MY LEAVE TO ATTEND TO FAMILY OBLIGATIONS AND OTHER PURSUITS.” SHE STRONGLY URGED THE ADMINISTRATION AND THE TOURISM DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL TO CONDUCT A NATIONAL SEARCH FOR HER REPLACEMENT, CITING THE NEED FOR A SMOOTH TRANSITION IN LEADERSHIP.
