AUTHORITIES WORKED QUICKLY TO PUT OUT A BRUSH FIRE MONDAY AFTERNOON IN PORT CHARLOTTE. CHARLOTTE COUNTY FIRE & EMS RESPONDED TO THE NORTHSHORE TERRACE AREA AT 1:15PM AND FOUND ABOUT ONE ACRE BURNING IN HEAVY FUEL. THE FIRE WAS MOVING QUICKLY BECAUSE OF STRONG WINDS, BUT FIRE CREWS WERE ABLE TO BRING IT UNDER CONTROL IN MINUTES. IT WAS OFFICIALLY RULED OUT AT 1:45PM. HOMES IN THE AREA WERE PROTECTED FROM ANY DAMAGE AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DIVISION OF FORESTRY WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FIRE AS WAS FLORIDA POWER & LIGHT FOR A DAMAGED POWER POLL.
