A CAB DRIVER WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN AN ACCIDENT IN NORTH PORT TUESDAY AFTERNOON. NORTH PORT POLICE SAY 50 YEAR OLD MARK ALEXANDER OF SARASOTA WAS DRIVING A SCAT BUS AND WAS STOPPED AT THE RED LIGHT ON TAMIAMI TRAIL IN FRONT OF THE APPLEBEE’S JUST BEFORE 2:45PM WHEN HE WAS RUN INTO BY THE YELLOW LINCOLN CAB THAT WAS DRIVEN BY 47 YEAR OLD RICHARD DAHLBERG OF NORTH PORT. DAHLBERG WAS BAYFLITED TO BAYFRONT MEDICAL CENTER IN ST. PETERSBURG IN SERIOUS CONDITION WITH A HEAD INJURY, WHILE THE ONLY PASSENGER ON THE BUS, BONNIE PARIS, WAS TAKEN TO THE NORTH PORT ER FOR TREATMENT OF A MINOR HEAD INJURY. POLICE SAY THEY DON’T KNOW WHY THE CAB RAMMED INTO THE BACK OF THE BUS AND CHARGES ARE PENDING THE COMPLETION OF THEIR INVESTIGATION.
