CHARLOTTE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS ON TUESDAY APPROVED AN ORDINANCE SUSPENDING IMPACT FEES FOR LIBRARY, PARK, LAW ENFORCEMENT, FIRE, AND PUBLIC BUILDING FEE CATEGORIES FOR A YEAR. THE SUSPENSION IS FOR BOTH RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION. THE ONLY IMPACT FEE CATEGORY STILL IN EFFECT IS FOR ROADS. THE COUNTY SAYS BY ENACTING THIS SUSPENSION, IMPACT FEES CAN BE REDUCED FOR CERTAIN NEW CONSTRUCTION CATEGORIES BY AS MUCH AS HALF. COMMISSIONERS SAY THEY FEEL THE SUSPENSION IS NECESSARY TO HELP PROMOTE GROWTH IN BOTH THE BUSINESS AND RESIDENTIAL SECTORS, AND IT WILL HELP STIMULATE CONSTRUCTION AND CONSTRUCTION RELATED JOBS IN THE COUNTY.
