Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Bloodhound Team Locates Missing Passenger from Crash Scene
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office Bloodhound Team, led by Cpl. Steven Sella and his partner K9 Zoe, successfully located a woman who went missing following a rollover vehicle crash.
Deputies initially responded to the crash, transporting the driver to the hospital. No passenger was reported or found at the scene, but the driver later stated that his girlfriend had been with him during the incident. Concerned for her safety, deputies returned to the couple’s residence but received no response.
Cpl. Sella, a Scent Evidence K9 Master Handler, collected a scent article from a single female shoe found in the vehicle and deployed K9 Zoe. The skilled bloodhound trailed 1.6 miles from the crash site directly to the residence. Deputies discovered fresh blood on the back door, and after repeated knocks, a woman answered with visible injuries consistent with the crash.
Thanks to K9 Zoe’s precise tracking, the missing passenger was located, and her welfare confirmed.
The Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office is a proud partner of the Florida Bringing The Lost Home Program, continuing its commitment to public safety through innovative search methods.
