City of Arcadia Launches Airport Watermain Extension Project

The City of Arcadia is moving forward with a major infrastructure upgrade designed to strengthen fire protection and support future growth at the airport.

The Airport Watermain Extension Project will install 10,000 feet of new 8-inch water main, replacing the current 2-inch line that serves airport facilities. The new system will greatly increase water capacity, reliability, and fire flow.

The water line will connect from an existing main on West Street, extend through AC Polk Jr. Drive, and continue down Airport Road to Airport Estates Street, with an additional tie-in at the airport’s southeast entrance.

As part of the project, 18 new fire hydrants will be installed along Maple Drive, Airport Road, Airport Estates Street, and within the airport grounds—providing stronger fire protection for both airport facilities and surrounding neighborhoods.

Construction is being carried out by General Underground, LLC using directional drilling technology, which reduces surface disruption during installation.

This important community investment is made possible through a Rural Infrastructure Fund grant from Florida Commerce.
