CHARLOTTE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS HAVE REMOVED THE INTERIM TAG FROM ADMINISTRATOR RAY SANDROCK AND HAVE GIVEN HIM THE JOB ON A PERMANENT BASIS. COMMISSIONERS ACTUALLY VOTED 4-1 TO GIVE HIM THE JOB AT A RECENT LAND USE MEETING, WITH BOB STARR THE LONE DISSENTER. HE FELT WITH TWO NEW COMMISSIONERS COMING ON BOARD THEY SHOULD HAVE A SAY IN WHO GETS THE POSITION. ON TUESDAY, COMMISSIONERS VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO MAKE SANDROCK’S SALARY $150,000 A YEAR, THE SAME AS FORMER ADMINISTRATOR ROGER BALTZ, WHO WAS FORCED TO RESIGN AUGUST 10TH. SANDROCK HAS BEEN PRAISED BY COMMISSIONERS FOR HIS HANDLING OF THE MURDOCK VILLAGE LAND SWAP AND FOR GAINING COMMUNITY SUPPORT. ALSO TUESDAY, COMMISSIONERS UNANIMOUSLY VOTED TO ELIMINATE A SCHEDULED THREE PERCENT INCREASE IN WATER AND SEWER RATES FOR 2011, AND THEY VOTED UNANIMOUSLY TO MAKE SALES OF ALCOHOL ON SUNDAYS CO-INCIDE WITH THE REST OF THE WEEK, MEANING YOU CAN BUY ALCOHOL FROM 6AM-2AM.
