NORTH PORT, FLORIDA

Dr. Brent Blue, the coroner of Teton County, Wyoming  who was charged with the autopsy of Gabby Petito announced a ruling on Gabby Petito’s autopsy this afternoon. The official cause of Gabby Petito’s death has officially been ruled a homicide, with the cause of death being “death by strangulation.” He stated that no official date of death is listed on the death certificate.

The investigation has revealed that Petito’s body was outside and exposed to the wilderness and environment for between three to four weeks.

Her remains were found on September 19th by the FBI near Grand Teton National Park.

Petito had been on a cross-country trip with her fiance, Brian Laundrie. She was first reported missing on Sept. 11 after Laundrie returned to their shared home in Florida without her.

The search is on for Brian Laundrie who has not been charged in the death of Petito, but a federal arrest warrant was issued for him on charges relating to “unauthorized” use of a debit card in the days following her death.
