A NORTH PORT COUPLE WAS ARRESTED TUESDAY NIGHT AFTER A CHARLOTTE COUNTY DEPUTY FOUND THEM PASSED OUT IN A CAR WITH A 2 YEAR OLD BOY WHO WAS PLAYING WITH A METH BOTTLE.  DEPUTIES RESPONDED TO THE SHELL GAS STATION PARKING LOT ON KINGS HIGHWAY IN PORT CHARLOTTE AND FOUND 22 YEAR OLD ASHLEY SANGIOVANNI LYING FACE DOWN ON THE FLOORBOARD IN A BLUE VW WITH 29 YEAR OLD ADIN NICOL PASSED OUT AT THE WHEEL WITH THE CHILD SITTING ON THE MAN’S LAP PLAYING WITH THE BOTTLE.  THE DEPUTY TRIED TO WAKE THE TWO UP, BUT BOTH WERE UNRESPONSIVE, SO HE OPENED THE DRIVER’S DOOR.  NICOL NEARLY FELL OUT AND DROPPED THE BABY FROM HIS LAP, BUT THE DEPUTY CAUGHT HIM BEFORE HE HIT THE GROUND.  EVENTUALLY THE DEPUTY WAS ABLE TO WAKE UP BOTH NICOL AND SANGIOVANNI, AND A SEARCH OF THE CAR FOUND FIVE BOTTLE OF LIQUID METH PRESCRIBED TO BOTH, ALONG WITH A CLEAR PLASTIC BAGGIE WITH 16 ROXYCODONE PILLS AND ANOTHER THAT TESTED POSITIVE FOR OPIATES.  BOTH WERE TAKEN INTO CUSTODY ON CHILD NEGLECT CHARGES, WITH NICOL ALSO CHARGED WITH DUI AND SANGIOVANNI ALSO HIT WITH POSSESSION OF ROXYCODONE AND DRUG PARAPHERNALIA CHARGES.  BOTH REMAIN IN THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY JAIL WITHOUT BOND, WHILE THE CHILD WAS RELEASED TO SANGIOVANNI’S MOTHER AND THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES WAS NOTIFIED.
