In response to recent storm damage, the City of Arcadia has issued updated debris collection guidelines. Residents are urged to follow these instructions to ensure debris is collected efficiently. Improperly sorted or placed debris will not be collected.

Debris Separation:

  • All debris must be separated into three specific categories. Mixed piles will NOT be collected.
  1. Vegetative Debris
    • Includes: leaves, mulch, plants, shrubbery, logs, trees, tree stumps, and tree branches.
    • Note: No household garbage or hazardous waste allowed.
  2. Inert Building Materials
    • Includes: metal, wood, bricks, asphalt or cement concrete, plaster, siding, shingles, insulation, and glass.
    • Note: No hazardous waste or household garbage.
  3. Furniture & Other Building Materials
    • Includes: household furniture, mattresses, clothing, drywall, and pressure-treated wood.
    • Note: No hazardous waste or household garbage.

How to Pile Debris:

  • Place debris piles:
    • Outside of travel lanes.
    • Away from trees, branches, fire hydrants, mailboxes, low-hanging power lines, and utility poles.

Important Notes:

  • Loose piles only: Bagged debris will NOT be picked up.
  • Household Trash: Follow your regular collection schedule for household garbage, unless local officials provide other instructions.

Unsure Where to Place Debris?

  • Debris must be placed in the public right-of-way, without blocking roadways or storm drains. Keep debris in loose piles—bagged debris will NOT be collected.
