October 6, 2024 Updates From Emergency Management Tropical Storm Milton
A Message Form Governor DeSantis
As Tropical Storm Milton intensifies in the Gulf, I have issued Executive Order 24-214 in preparation for a potential landfall on Florida’s west coast this week. This order declares a state of emergency across 35 counties in Florida.
As recovery efforts from Hurricane Helene are ongoing, I have instructed the Florida Division of Emergency Management and the Florida Department of Transportation to mobilize all available personnel and resources to support local communities in speeding up debris removal in affected areas. We are also continuing to stage state assets to ensure swift search and rescue operations, power restoration, and road clearing.
