DeSoto County Hurricane Ian Recovery Updates 10/12/22

Pre-registration for Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance D -SNAP is now OPEN for individuals and families impacted by Hurricane Ian and who reside or work in DeSoto County. AFTER pre-registration is complete, applicants can call the D-SNAP Call Center for their phone interview. The Call Center will be open between Thursday, Oct. 13 and Sunday, Oct. 16. Phone interview times are designated based on the first letter of the applicant’s last name. Visit  https://www.myflfamilies.com/DSNAP/ for the details
*Note: D-SNAP is only available for Floridians who do not currently receive food assistance benefits through the regular SNAP program.

The Florida Department of Health in DeSoto County
Baldwin Ave location is temporarily closed to the public due to damage and repair.
Environmental Health and limited Dental services will be offered at the Oak Street location until the building repairs are complete.

OPERATION BLUE ROOF
DeSoto County residents can SIGN UP for Operation Blue Roof at First Baptist Church of Fort Ogden today October 12th at 8:30AM

MOSQUITO SPRAYING
There will be aerial mosquito spraying in the area at night. Aerial spraying is more effective and faster than truck-mounted or handheld sprayers in treating large areas of land.
According to the CDC, no, you do not need to leave an area during aerial spraying.

DISTRIBUTION SUPPLIES
NOCATEE School will be closing their distribution site today Thursday October 11th. They will be distributing the last of food, water and ice while supplies last.
