It is with great sadness that we share the passing of retired Sheriff Joseph L. “Joe” Varnadore on Monday, November 28, 2022.
Joe had a heart for service, not only for our community but for our state and country. He was a proud United States Marine and was a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper before serving as a DeSoto County Sheriff from 1987 – 1994.
After his retirement from the Sheriff’s Office, Joe served as a DeSoto County Commissioner.
