DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Press Release:
On November 27, 2024, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office deputies intercepted a stolen vehicle tied to a BOLO for two kidnapped 4-year-olds issued out of Henry County. The stolen vehicle was spotted on Highway 17, and deputies quickly attempted a traffic stop.
The driver, identified as Jerome Ralph Garvin, refused to comply, leading deputies on a pursuit before abandoning the vehicle with the kids inside, while it was still moving. But his attempt to evade justice failed. DCSO deputies and Arcadia Police Department officers worked together to track him down and apprehend him.
Garvin has a long history of felony crimes—including robbery, grand theft auto, and aggravated battery—but now he’s facing new charges:
– Grand Theft of a Motor Vehicle
– Kidnapping/Child Neglect
– Fleeing to Elude Law Enforcement
– Resisting Arrest
…and more.
Sheriff Potter commends our deputies and the Arcadia Police Department for their swift, decisive actions that ensured the safe rescue of the two children and the capture of Garvin. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated in DeSoto County.
