DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office Arrests Fugitive After 18-Month Manhunt
After nearly 18 months on the run, Rodney Rodriguez Randolph Jr. was arrested on September 26, 2024, by the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO). Randolph, who faced multiple felony charges including trafficking illegal narcotics, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and reckless driving with a revoked license, had evaded authorities since April 2023.
The manhunt began after Randolph fled on foot following a traffic stop in April 2023, during which he crashed a vehicle. Detectives later uncovered illegal narcotics, a firearm, and drug paraphernalia at his residence. Despite efforts to locate him, Randolph had successfully avoided capture until recently.
DCSO detectives, with help from a tip provided by a concerned citizen, were able to track Randolph down. He was taken into custody during a traffic stop, and all outstanding warrants were confirmed. Randolph is now being held at the DeSoto County Jail.
Sheriff Jim Potter praised the dedication and hard work of the DCSO Narcotics Unit, commending their persistence in ensuring Randolph’s arrest and enhancing public safety.
