The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) has an initiative that encompasses School Bus Safety.
When a Deputy observes a school bus is transporting students to and from school, if calls permit, they will follow that school bus for a period of time. Their presence is focused on preventing improper passing during student pick-up and drop-off. This initiative is part of DCSO’s Overwatch Program, geared toward ensuring a safe learning environment for DeSoto County Students from the time they leave their homes. Just another way DCSO works to ensure the safety of all students and staff within DCSO schools.
