Earlier this week, a DeSoto County resident had numerous items stolen from their property, to include a trailer. The stolen items totaled a value between approximately $6,000 – $8,000.
Yesterday, Mike Robertson fled DCSO Narcotics Unit, Sgt. Proudfit, but was apprehended and found to be in possession of over 24 grams of Methamphetamine. Also present was the Criminal Investigative Division (CID), Sgt. Bailey, who discovered that Mike had been storing some property that did not belong to him!
Through further investigation, DCSO CID and Narcotics Unit determined Alicia Walters and Carolyn Catt assisted Mike in his theft related activities.
Detectives Pacheco and Gonzalez interviewed Mike and Alicia who confessed to stealing the property. This resulted in Mike and Alicia being charged with the following felonies:
– Burglary of Unoccupied Dwelling; 810.02(3)(b).
– Grand Theft valued at $5,000 or more but less than $10,000; F.S.S. 812.014(2)(c)2.
By the way, since Florida is under a State of Emergency from Hurricane Ian, their charges are eligible for enhancement.
In total, DCSO CID and DCSO Narcotics Unit were able to recover over $6,500 in stolen property, which was promptly turned back over to the victim.
Sheriff Potter is grateful to see Divisions within the Sheriff’s Office work together to achieve the same overall Mission of serving our community and keeping DeSoto County safe. Great job Detectives!!!
