On April 10, 2024, the DeSoto County Sheriff Office Narcotics unit went in search of Charles Ruth, who had an active felony arrest warrant out of Polk County for Violation of Probation- Burglary. Our Detectives located Mr. Ruth poorly attempting to hide underneath a futon inside of a shed on SW Rainbow Ave.
As Detectives were taking Mr. Ruth into custody a loaded 45 caliber handgun and an assortment of illegal narcotics were located. But it doesn’t stop there for Mr. Ruth… the firearm came back stolen out of Polk County and Mr. Ruth is a convicted felon with 14 prior felony arrests.
Mr. Ruth was charged with Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon, Possession of ammunition by Convicted Felon, Possession of a controlled substance (MDMA), Possession of a controlled substance (Crack Cocaine), Possession of a controlled substance (Cocaine), Possession of marijuana and Possession of drug paraphernalia. He is currently being held without bond at the DeSoto County Jail.
