THE DESOTO HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL PLAYER THAT SHOVED AND THREW A REFEREE TO THE GROUND DURING A GAME MONDAY NIGHT IS NOW FACING CHARGES.  18 YEAR OLD MASON HOLLAND HAS CHARGES OF BATTERY ON A SPORTS OFFICIAL, WHICH IS A FELONY, AWAITING HIS ARRIVAL TO THE DESOTO COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.  HOLLAND TOLD AUTHORITIES HE WAS REMORSEFUL BUT HE WAS FRUSTRATED DURING THE GAME BECAUSE THE OFFICIALS HAD SEEN THE OTHER TEAM, PORT CHARLOTTE, PUSHING AND HITTING HIM IN THE FACE, BUT THEY WEREN’T CALLING ANY FOULS.  HOLLAND’S ACTION’S HAVE BEEN SEEN BY MILLIONS, FIRST ON YOU TUBE, THEN ON ESPN, AND NOW ON MAJOR NEWS NETWORKS INCLUDING CBS.  THE OFFICIAL WHO WAS ATTACKED, JIM HAMM, SAID HE WANTED TO PRESS CHARGES, AND THE DESOTO COUNTY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT, ADRIAN KLEIN, HAS SUSPENDED HOLLAND FOR TEN DAYS.  HOLLAND IS ALSO BANNED FROM PARTICIPATING IN ANY SPORTS AT DESOTO HIGH.  THE REFEREES CALLED THE GAME AND DECLARED PORT CHARLOTTE THE WINNER.
