The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office reminds you: NEVER leave the scene of a crash!
On February 10, 2025, our Traffic Safety Unit responded to a hit-and-run at SE Hargrave St. and SE Third Ave. Deputies determined a stop sign had been damaged, and the driver, William Bair, had fled the scene. Another deputy located Bair and directed him to return. Upon investigation, deputies found Bair was also driving without a license. He was arrested and transported to DeSoto County Jail, facing charges of operating a motor vehicle without a license and leaving the scene of a crash with property damage. Since the arrest, Bair has been released by the courts on bond.
Even if another vehicle isn’t involved, DO THE RIGHT THING! Stay at the scene and call law enforcement. #HitAndRunAwareness
