DRIVER WITH LEARNER’S PERMIT CAUSES CRASH

A DRIVER WITH ONLY A LEARNER’S PERMIT SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES IN A TRAFFIC ACCIDENT ON I-75 NEAR MILE MARKER 210 WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. A REPORT FROM THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS NINETEEN YEAR OLD JULIANNA ABUNDEZ OF PALMETTO, FLORIDA WAS TRAVELING NORTHBOUND IN THE RIGHT LANE AND ATTEMPTED TO MOVE TO THE CENTER LANE. THE ONLY PROBLEM – A VEHICLE DRIVEN BY THIRTY FOUR YEAR OLD ERIC MAYER OF TAMPA WAS IN THE CENTER LANE BESIDE ABUNDEZ. THE TWO CARS MADE CONTACT – MAYER WAS ABLE TO KEEP CONTROL OF HIS CAR AND STOP ON THE RIGHT SHOULDER. ABUNDEZ LOST CONTROL AND SPUN INTO THE MEDIAN, HITTING A TREE, MAYER WAS NOT INJURED – THE REPORT SAYS ABUNDEZ SUSTAINED MINOR INJURIES. ABUNDEZ WAS CHARGED WITH IMPROPER LANE CHANGING AND DRIVING ON A LEARNER’S PERMIT WITHOUT A LICENSED PASSENGER TWENTY ONE OR OLDER.
