DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office is recognizing #DrowsyDriverAwarenessDay by encouraging you to raise awareness of the harmful impacts of sleep deprivation.
The best way to offset drowsiness while driving is to STOP at the slightest hint of drowsiness. Pull over at an exit on long road trips and give yourself time to rest. It is recommended you should take a two-hour break for every 100 miles driven.
YOU can observe Drowsy Driver Awareness Day by educating yourself on how sleep heath is an essential part of overall health that is often ignored, and the impact that sleep deprivation has on a person.
Sheriff Potter wants to take the time today to honor those who have been involved in harmful driving related incidents with empathy and understanding, and encourage you take a pledge to drive with caution and be alert on the roads.
