Five Car Crash In DeSoto County Claims Two Lives

Vehicle 1 and Vehicle 5 were traveling east on State Road 70, approaching NW Florida Avenue. Vehicle 1 was
directly behind Vehicle 5.

Vehicle 2, Vehicle 3, and Vehicle 4 were traveling west on State Road 70, west of NW Florida Avenue. Vehicle 4 was
directly behind Vehicle 3 and Vehicle 3 was directly behind Vehicle 2.

Vehicle 1 transitioned into the westbound lane to pass Vehicle 5. The left front of Vehicle 1 collided with the left
front of Vehicle 2. Vehicle 2 was forced backward into the front of Vehicle 3. The collision redirected Vehicle 2 onto
the north grass shoulder where it overturned and came to final rest on its roof.

Vehicle 1 came to rest facing east, straddling both lanes. Vehicle 3 came to rest on the north shoulder / westbound
lane. Vehicle 4 was unable to come to a stop and the front of Vehicle 4 collided with the left rear of Vehicle
3. Debris from the original crash collided with Vehicle 5.

Driver 1 and Driver 2 were pronounced deceased on scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
