Florida Horseshoe Crab Watch…Help Gather Vital Information

Join Florida Sea Grant Charlotte County for the Florida Horseshoe Crab Watch (FHCW) in Charlotte County! Help us gather vital information on mating horseshoe crabs in Charlotte Harbor. Your participation will assist the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) in population health assessments and movement models.
Training:
📍 Centennial Park Recreation Center, 1120 Centennial Blvd, Port Charlotte
🗓️ Aug. 12, 2023, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Surveys:
📍 Bayshore Live Oak Park, 23157 Bayshore Road, Port Charlotte
🗓️ Fall 2023: High tides during new moon & full moon in September & October
🗓️ Spring 2024: High tides during new moon & full moon in March & April
Whether you’re an individual or a group, you can sign up for surveys that fit your schedule. New volunteers will receive in-person training before their first survey, while online instructional videos are available for repeat volunteers or those who can’t attend training.
