CHARLOTTE COUNTY MAJOR CRIMES UNIT DETECTIVES ARRESTED FOUR PEOPLE ON CHILD NEGLECT CHARGES FOR FAILURE TO CLEAN UP THEIR HOME AFTER THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES TOOK CUSTODY OF FIVE TODDLERS BACK ON SEPTEMBER 4TH. DEPUTIES SAY DCF INVESTIGATED CHILD NEGLECT COMPLAINTS THAT DAY AT 22363 MIDWAY BOULEVARD IN PORT CHARLOTTE ABOUT DEPLORABLE CONDITIONS IN THE HOME WHERE THE CHILDREN LIVED WITH THEIR PARENTS AND TWO UNCLES. THE HOME WAS INFESTED WITH RODENTS, AND THERE WAS GARBAGE ALL OVER THE HOME. DCF HAD REPORTEDLY BEEN TO THE HOME 16 TIMES AND CASE WORKERS HAD GIVEN THEM AMPLE TIME TO CLEAN THE PLACE UP. DETECTIVES WENT BACK TO THE HOME ON WEDNESDAY AND MET WITH THE PARENTS, 24 YEAR OLD LAWSON WILCOX AND 23 YEAR OLD KAELA DEMLER, ALONG WITH 35 YEAR OLDS WALTER AND DENNIS WILCOX, WHO ARE UNCLES LIVING IN THE HOME. DETECTIVES ARRESTED THE FOUR AFTER SEEING THAT CONDITIONS HAD NOT IMPROVED. ALL WERE TAKEN TO THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY JAIL.
