Gulfcoast South Area Health Education Center (GSAHEC) is coordinating Health Careers Camps in partnership with Sarasota Memorial Health Care System, HCA Florida Blake Hospital, and DeSoto Memorial Hospital. These camps are designed to provide high school students interested in health careers a rare and unique opportunity to explore a variety of health occupations through tours within the hospital, chats and hands-on activities with health professionals, discussion groups with fellow students, and reflective learning assignments. These experiences help students learn from experienced health professionals, increases their knowledge about health care, and motivates the students to develop effective short and long term educational and career plans.
PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY
Students will be selected from a pool of applicants. Only students who meet the following criteria are eligible for participation in the Health Careers Camp:
- Charlotte, DeSoto, Manatee, or Sarasota County resident.
- Current High School Student – students graduating 8th grade by the summer of 2024 and students graduating high school by the summer of 2024 are also welcome to apply.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA.
PROGRAM DETAILS
- Mandatory attendance required for the entire program.
- To apply, complete this Health Careers Camp application and submit it by April 30, 2024.
- Application must be completed in full.
- Enclose an essay.
- Enclose an unofficial copy of high school transcript.
