SHARE NOW

On May 18th, Army sergeant veteran Brandon Rethmel and his family received a warm welcome to their new forever home, in Punta Gorda thanks to non-profit organization Homes For Our Troops. The specially built home caters to Rethmel’s needs, including wheelchair accessibility. The organization aims to assist severely injured combat veterans nationwide. The community’s support and volunteer efforts are crucial for completing the home-building process. Those interested in volunteering can find more information online.

Brandon Rethmel, inspired by witnessing the 9/11 attacks near the Pentagon, joined the Army and deployed to Afghanistan in 2009. In an attack, he lost his right leg and sustained injuries to his right arm. After treatment at Walter Reed Medical Center, he retired from the military. Now, with his wife Sylvia and three children, he’s involved with Operation Heroes Support and awaits a specially adapted home from Homes For Our Troops. This home will enhance his mobility and allow him to focus on family and fishing in Florida. He’s grateful for the support, acknowledging the life-changing impact it will have.
