DeSoto County Emergency Management
Trash and Debris are HOT topics these days. It’s nice to know that we have moved from search and rescue to recovery & response. It’s going to be a lot of work to get this county cleaned up, but I assure you that the contractors are working as hard as they can to get the debris picked up.
Thank you for your cooperation and patience! DeSoto County has a contractor working on it. The City of Arcadia has a different contractor for the city limits and FDOT has a different contractor for state roads.
Household Trash
Womack Sanitation has resumed regularly scheduled trash pickup. They do not pick up yard debris, appliances, or construction debris. They only pick up household garbage.
Yard Waste – Vegetative Only
Yard debris (tree limbs, vegetative, etc) will be picked up today for these areas. (Please see the list of streets and areas.) As we get these lists from the contractor we will share them.
This does not include yard furniture, metal, or plastic materials.
Construction & Demolition Waste
Construction & Demolition debris will also be picked up eventually but it’s going to be a while. We appreciate your patience in this matter.
Please use the diagram below to sort the debris correctly.
