IN LIGHT OF THE SUSPENSION OF NORTH PORT HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL GEORGE KENNEY, THE ORGANIZERS OF PROJECT GRADUATION HAVE CANCELLED A HYPNOTIST THAT THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY BOOKED AS ENTERTAINMENT FOR GRADUATING SENIORS. THE DECISION WAS MADE TO AVOID A MEDIA FRENZY FOR THE STUDENTS AT THE JUNE 4TH PARTY WHICH IS BEING HELD AT THE SOUTH COUNTY YMCA IN VENICE. KENNEY WAS PLACED ON ADMINISTRATIVE LEAVE WITH PAY LAST WEEK AFTER IT CAME TO LIGHT THAT HE WAS PERFORMING HYPNOSIS ON STUDENTS AT THE HIGH SCHOOL DESPITE BEING TOLD TO STOP BY THE SCHOOL BOARD TWO YEARS AGO. ONE OF KENNEY’S SUBJECTS COMMITTED SUICIDE THE DAY AFTER A SESSION EARLIER THIS YEAR, AND THE SCHOOL BOARD HAS LAUNCHED AN INVESTIGATION.
