DeSoto County, FL — On March 18, Corporal Santana and Deputy Pandolfi conducted a traffic stop after a vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign. What started as a routine stop quickly turned into a significant drug bust, thanks to the keen nose of K9 Xena.

After arriving on the scene, K9 Xena gave a positive alert for illegal narcotics. A subsequent search of the vehicle uncovered over 18 grams of methamphetamine, along with marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Julie Ann Perry, and her passengers, James Randolph Payne and Craig Michael Ward, were taken into custody.

Sheriff Jim Potter praised the dedication and teamwork of the nightshift officers, emphasizing the department’s commitment to keeping DeSoto County safe.

“Our team works tirelessly to protect our community, and K9 Xena’s outstanding performance is another example of that dedication,” said Sheriff Potter.
