MAJOR WRECK IN SARASOTA SENDS 3 TO HOSPITAL

THREE PEOPLE WERE INJURED, TWO SERIOUSLY, IN A SIX VEHICLE PILE-UP IN SARASOTA LAST NIGHT.  THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 27 YEAR OLD ANDREW DILKS OF SARASOTA WAS SOUTHBOUND ON NORTH LOCKWOOD RIDGE ROAD IN THE LEFT LANE AT AROUND 6:30PM WHEN HE DIDN’T NOTICE STOPPED TRAFFIC IN FRONT OF HIM.  HE HIT FOUR OF THE FIVE STOPPED VEHICLES HIMSELF, AND SEVERAL OF THE OTHERS CRASHED INTO EACH OTHER BEFORE DILKS ENDED UP IN THE SUNOCO GAS STATION PARKING LOT AT THE INTERSECTION OF LOCKWOOD RIDGE AND 17TH STREET.  HE WAS BAYFLITED TO BAYFRONT MEDICAL CENTER IN ST. PETERSBURG IN SERIOUS CONDITION.  ANOTHER DRIVER, 22 YEAR OLD CHRISTINA GAY OF SARASOTA WAS TAKEN TO SARASOTA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL, ALSO IN SERIOUS CONDITION, WHILE 39 YEAR OLD ERIN MILANO OF SARASOTA WAS TAKEN TO SARASOTA MEMORIAL WITH MINOR INJURIES.  TROOPERS SIGHTED DILKS WITH CARELESS DRIVING IN THE ACCIDENT.
