AN ENGLEWOOD MAN WAS ARRESTED TUESDAY AFTER ALLEGEDLY ATTACKING A WOMAN AND HER SICK DOG. SARASOTA COUNTY DEPUTIES SAY THE VICTIM TOLD THEM THAT 27 YEAR OLD JASON RITENOUR BECAME ANGRY WITH THE DOG AS HE WAS DRINKING LATE TUESDAY AFTERNOON. RITENOUR REPORTEDLY PUNCHED AND KICKED THE DOG IN THE HEAD AND FACE, THEN KICKED IT REPEATEDLY IN THE RIBS. WHEN THE VICTIM TRIED TO GET HIM TO STOP, HE TURNED HIS ANGER TOWARDS HER, ALLEGEDLY PUNCHING HER IN THE FACE AND HEAD WHICH KNOCKED HER TO THE GROUND. THE VICTIM TRIED TO GET OUT OF THE HOME BUT COULDN’T AS RITENOUR CONTINUED TO ALLEGEDLY SLAM HER HEAD AGAINST THE CONCRETE WHILE HITTING HER. WHEN HE HEARD DEPUTIES ARRIVING ON SCENE, HE FLED. THE VICTIM HAD MULTIPLE INJURIES, INCLUDING SWELLING ON HER FOREHEAD AND LEFT EYE AS WELL AS SEVERAL SCRATCHES. THE DOG HAD A MINOR SCRATCH OVER ONE EYE. RITENOUR RETURNED TO THE HOME LATER TUESDAY EVENING AND WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH BATTERY AND CRUELTY TO ANIMALS. HE REMAINS IN THE SARASOTA COUNTY JAIL WHERE HE IS BEING HELD WITHOUT BOND.
