A VENICE MAN WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER CRASHING HIS CAR WHILE BEING PURSUED.  THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 41 YEAR OLD CHRISTIAN WERNER WAS SOUTHBOUND ON US 41 AT AROUND 2AM TUESDAY MORNING WHEN TROOPERS TRIED TO PULL HIM OVER.  WERNER TRIED TO TURN LEFT ONTO LAUREL ROAD AND LOST CONTROL OF HIS 2005 JAGUAR.  HE TRAVELED ONTO THE SIDEWALK ON THE SOUTHEAST CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION BEFORE HITTING A BUSINESS SIGN.  WERNER WAS TAKEN TO VENICE REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER IN SERIOUS CONDITION.  TROOPERS SAY ALCOHOL WAS NOT A FACTOR AND THEY HAD CALLED OFF THE PURSUIT AT ROBERTS ROAD JUST BEFORE THE CRASH.  THEY ALSO SAY CHARGES ARE PENDING THE COMPLETION OF THEIR INVESTIGATION.
