A FORT MYERS MAN WAS SHOT AND KILLED IN PORT CHARLOTTE LATE YESTERDAY AFTERNOON. CHARLOTTE COUNTY DEPUTIES SAY A RESIDENT SAID SHE HEARD MULTIPLE GUNSHOTS IN THE AREA OF LEONA STREET NEAR VETERANS BOULEVARD, AND THEN SHE SAW A VEHICLE SPEEDING AWAY TOWARDS LIDDY STREET AT AROUND 5:45PM. ANOTHER RESIDENT SAID HE SAW A BLACK MAN ACROSS THE STREET WITH AN APPARENT GUNSHOT WOUND. AUTHORITIES STABILIZED 29 YEAR OLD PRINIS BATTLE AND HE WAS FLOWN TO LEE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL’S TRAUMA UNIT WHERE HE DIED LAST NIGHT.
