A SARASOTA MAN WAS CRITICALLY INJURED WHEN HE TRIED TO CROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION IN SARASOTA YESTERDAY. THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 57 YEAR OLD JOSEPH BRYANT WAS WALKING SOUTHBOUND ALONG US 301 AT DESOTO ROAD AT AROUND 4PM WHEN HE TRIED TO CROSS 301 AND WAS HIT BY A JEEP DRIVEN BY 22 YEAR OLD RYAN SWEENEY OF SARASOTA. BRYANT WAS BAYFLITED TO BAYFRONT MEDICAL CENTER IN ST. PETERSBURG IN CRITICAL CONDITION, WHILE SWEENEY WAS NOT INJURED. TROOPERS SAY ALCOHOL WAS NOT INVOLVED, AND NO CHARGES WILL BE FILED.
