A NORTH PORT MAN WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED IN A ONE VEHICLE ACCIDENT FRIDAY NIGHT. NORTH PORT POLICE SAY 26 YEAR OLD MATTHEW WILSON TURNED SOUTHBOUND ONTO MESA STREET FROM HARMONY ROAD JUST BEFORE 11:30 FRIDAY NIGHT WHEN HE LOST CONTROL OF HIS 1985 HONDA MOTORCYCLE. POLICE SAY TIRE TRACKS IN THE GRASS SHOW WILSON TOOK THE TURN TOO WIDE AND SLOWLY VEERED RIGHT. WILSON WAS THROWN TO THE GROUND AND HIT HIS HEAD ON THE PAVEMENT. HE WAS FLOWN VIA BAYFLITE TO BAYFRONT MEDICAL CENTER IN SERIOUS CONDITION. POLICE DID NOT SAY IF WILSON WAS WEARING A HELMET, BUT THE DID SAY CHARGES ARE PENDING THE COMPLETION OF THEIR INVESTIGATION.
