A NORTH PORT MAN WAS KILLED IN A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 68 YEAR OLD BRUCE JONES WAS TRAVELING EASTBOUND IN THE RIGHT TRAVEL LANE OF SOUTHBOUND I-75 NEAR MILE MARKER 181 AT AROUND 5PM WHEN WITNESSES SAY HE LOST CONTROL OF HIS 1993 CORVETTE AND DRIFTED INTO THE MEDIAN. THE LEFT FRONT OF THE CAR STRUCK THE GUARD CABLE, WHICH ALSO HIT JONES. THE IMPACT KILLED JONES INSTANTLY. TROOPERS SAY HE WAS NOT WEARING HIS SEAT BELT.
