A MAN WAS KILLED AS HE TOOK HIS MORNING WALK IN A CHARLOTTE COUNTY NEIGHBORHOOD.  THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 18 YEAR OLD JOSEPH HOWARD OF PUNTA GORDA WAS EASTBOUND ON DEEP CREEK BOULEVARD APPROACHING THE INTERSECTION OF COMPANA COURT JUST BEFORE 5:45AM TUESDAY WHEN HE LOST CONSCIOUSNESS WHILE DRIVING.  HOWARD LOST CONTROL OF HIS NISSAN SENTRA AND DRIFTED ONTO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY, HITTING A MAILBOX IN THE FRONT YARD OF 25509 DEEP CREEK BOULEVARD.  AFTER IMPACT, HOWARD DROVE ACROSS THE DRIVEWAY AND BACK ONTO THE ROADWAY WHERE HE STRUCK 77 YEAR OLD LINFORD DALEY OF PUNTA GORDA.  HOWARD LEFT THE SCENE BY CONTINUING EAST ON DEEP CREEK, BUT WAS LOCATED A SHORT TIME LATER.  DALEY WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD AT THE SCENE.  HOWARD WAS NOT INJURED.  TROOPERS SAY CHARGES ARE PENDING THE COMPLETION OF THEIR INVESTIGATION, AND ALCOHOL MAY HAVE PLAYED A FACTOR.
