A MAN TRYING TO CROSS A SARASOTA STREET WAS REPORTEDLY MUGGED FRIDAY NIGHT.  SARASOTA COUNTY DEPUTIES SAY 52 YEAR OLD WILLIAM THOMPSON WAS CROSSING STICKNEY POINT ROAD FROM RICHARD PLACE JUST AFTER 8:30PM WHEN HE WAS HIT FROM BEHIND BY A HARD OBJECT.  ONE OF THE MEN THEN WENT INTO THOMPSON’S POCKETS AND TOOK HIS WALLET AND KEYS, AND THE TWO THEN FLED ON FOOT.  AUTHORITIES SEARCHED THE AREA BUT CAME UP EMPTY.  THOMPSON WAS TAKEN TO SARASOTA MEMORIAL HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT OF WHAT DEPUTIES SAID WERE NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES.  THE FIRST MAN WAS DESCRIBED AS BEING 26 OR 27 YEARS OLD.  HE WAS 5’10, ABOUT 170 POUNDS WITH A POSSIBLE FIRST NAME OF RYAN.  THE SECOND MAN WAS 5’11 WITH DARK HAIR.  ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CALL CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS AT 861-4900, OR YOU CAN LEAVE ANONYMOUS INFORMATION WITH CRIME STOPPPERS, EITHER BY PHONE AT 366-TIPS, OR ONLINE AT WWW.SARASOTACRIMESTOPPERS.COM.
