MAN THROWS DRUGS OUT OF CAR WINDOW

A CLEWISTON MAN IS BEHIND BARS AFTER THROWING DRUGS AND PARAPHERNALIA OUT OF HIS SPEEDING CAR BEFORE HE WAS PULLED OVER BY CHARLOTTE COUNTY DEPUTIES IN PUNTA GORDA.  A DEPUTY SPOTTED 23 YEAR OLD DAVID RICO DOING 65 IN A 55 MILE PER HOUR STRETCH OF BERMONT ROAD EAST OF STATE ROAD 31 SATURDAY.  WHEN THE DEPUTY PUT HIS FLASHERS ON FOR RICO TO PULL OVER, HE ALLEGEDLY SPED UP TO 75 MILES AN HOUR AND BEGAN THROWING SEVERAL SMALL BAGS OUT OF THE WINDOW ALONG WITH A PLASTIC SHOPPING BAG.  AFTER A MILE, RICO PULLED OVER, BUT DEPUTIES STILL FOUND LOOSE MARIJUANA ON THE DRIVER’S SEAT, PASSENGER’S SEAT, AND FLOORBOARD OF THE VEHICLE.  ANOTHER DEPUTY PICKED UP ONE OF THE BAGGIES WITH POT IN IT.  RICO WAS CHARGED WITH FLEEING TO ELUDE, POSSESSION OF LESS THAN 20 GRAMS OF MARIJUANA, POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA, AND DRIVING WITHOUT A LICENSE.  HE IS BEING HELD ON $5750 BOND IN THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY JAIL.
