A KENTUCKY MOTORCYCLIST WAS KILLED AND ANOTHER WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED WHEN THEY WRECKED THEIR BIKES EAST OF THE MYAKKA PARK IN SARASOTA COUNTY SATURDAY NIGHT. THE FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL SAYS 67 YEAR OLD GEORGE TAYLOR OF HARRODBURG AND 65 YEAR OLD JAMES ROE OF LEXINGTON WERE BOTH WESTBOUND ON STATE ROAD 72 JUST BEFORE 7:15PM SATURDAY WHEN A DEER ENTERED THE ROADWAY FROM THE NORTH SHOULDER. TAYLOR TRIED TO AVOID IT, BUT HIS MOTORCYCLE STRUCK THE LEFT SIDE OF THE DEER, THROWING TAYLOR TO THE GROUND. ROE DID AVOID HITTING THE ANIMAL, BUT HE TOO WAS THROWN FROM HIS BIKE. BOTH RIDERS WERE BAYFLITED TO BAYFRONT MEDICAL CENTER IN ST. PETERSBURG. TAYLOR WAS PRONOUNCED DEAD A SHORT TIME LATER WHILE ROE IS LISTED IN CRITICAL CONDITION. TROOPERS SAY IT’S NOT KNOWN IF EITHER RIDER WAS WEARING HIS HELMET.
