DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office
On November 12, 2022 at approximately 4:46 am the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office received a call about a subject being shot.
Deputies responded to the area of S.W. Charlotte St. and upon arrival engaged in first aid efforts for the victim. Unfortunately the male subject succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced at the scene.
Soon thereafter a female gunshot victim fled from a neighboring home. Deputies removed her from the immediate area turning her over to Public Safety personnel for treatment of her injuries.
The DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office SWAT team responded to the incident location and while clearing the residence located the body of the suspect who perished from a self-inflicted gunshot.
The remains of the male victim and suspect are being transported to the Medical Examiners Office.
This continues to be an open, ongoing investigation. Additional information will be provided at a later date.
Nocatee is a small DeSoto County community located between northern Charlotte County and Arcadia.
Saturday’s killing was the second homicide since Oct. 23 in the rural area.
