A NORTH PORT WOMAN WAS ARRESTED YESTERDAY AFTERNOON AFTER LEAVING HER 10 MONTH OLD BABY BOY INSIDE HER LOCKED JEEP CHEROKEE FOR FORTY MINUTES. CHARLOTTE COUNTY DEPUTIES SAY 22 YEAR OLD ROSA OLIVARES WAS IN THE DRIVER’S LICENSE OFFICE AT THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY GOVERNMENT COMPLEX IN ENGLEWOOD, WHICH HAPPENS TO BE WHERE THE DISTRICT ONE OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE IS LOCATED. DEPUTIES RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY AFTER WITNESSES SAID THE BOY WAS STRAPPED INSIDE THE JEEP CRYING AND SWEATING IN THE 80 DEGREE HEAT. DEPUTIES FOUND THE MOTHER, WHO UNLOCKED THE DOOR ALLOWING DEPUTIES TO REMOVE THE CHILD. EMS WAS CALLED AND THEY MEDICALLY CLEARED THE BABY. DEPUTIES SAID THE MOTHER CRACKED ONE REAR WINDOW ABOUT ONE-INCH, BUT IT WAS NOT ENOUGH. OLIVARES WAS CHARGED WITH CHILD ABUSE AND TAKEN TO THE CHARLOTTE COUNTY JAIL AND RELEASED AFTER POSTING BOND. THE CHILD WAS TURNED OVER TO THE FATHER AND DEPUTIES CONTACTED THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND FAMILIES.
