THE OWNER OF THE ANTIQUES PLUS IN EAST ENGLEWOOD IS STILL IN CRITICAL CONDITION THIS MORNING AFTER BEING ATTACKED WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. CHARLOTTE COUNTY DEPUTIES SAY THEY WERE CALLED TO THE STORE IN THE GALLERY PLAZA ON NORTH ACCESS ROAD AT AROUND 2:40PM AFTER A NEIGHBORING BUSINESS OWNER WENT TO CHECK ON 64 YEAR OLD JEFFREY MAZUR OF ENGLEWOOD AFTER HIS WIFE CALLED THE STORE AND GOT NO ANSWER. DEPUTIES WOULD NOT SAY HOW THE MAZUR WAS INJURED, BUT SEVERAL REPORTS SAY HE WAS SHOT. MAZUR WAS AIRLIFTED FROM NEARBY L A AINGER MIDDLE SCHOOL TO LEE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL’S TRAUMA UNIT WITH LIFE THREATENING INJURIES. THE AREA WAS SEARCHED WITH ROAD PATROL DEPUTIES, CANINES AND A HELICOPTER, BUT NO ONE WAS FOUND. AUTHORITIES SAY THEY BELIEVE ROBBERY WAS POSSIBLY THE MOTIVE. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION IS ASKED TO CALL THE SHERIFF’S OFFICE AT 639-2101 OR CRIME STOPPERS TOLL FREE AT 800-780-TIPS.
